Now, earlier on call with some members of each tribe I already detailed some of my feedback; what I thought of your 50 second additions, and each tribe mates individual turn videos.
YUAN
Amanda, you brought the house down with your costuming, location, props, and overall energy to the video. Smashing the pumpkin was one of the best scenes of the video - and you dancing …. so so epic. Without your backbone in this challenge, your tribe would have been up shits creek.
Laura, tagging public property! You really give no fucks, eh? This was a great and creative scene to add into the mix. Your poke hat and orange outfit are perfect for this challenge.
Kodi, the energy in your scenes of the challenge is almost unmatched. You probably have one of the best outfits on the tribe, and out of almost everyone in the game you really exude that ‘pop’ spirit.
Ashley, you nailed down the turns and thank you for being another tribe mate to keep the turns in the same spot. It wasn’t required but it caters to my eye and I like it that way. Your pop outfit is so fkn cute, I love the fairy feel. You throwing the Pokemon cards everywhere like you’re a boss is one of my favorite scenes in the entire video, it was so fun to edit. I think you really helped the tribe out without leaving your house.
Jake, kinda disappointed with the quality of what you provided given the length of this challenge. A camera propped on a bed in crappy lighting. Dang, if I put as much energy into hosting as you did in location and lighting… Hmmm. I thought the shirt off idea was clever, again, if the landscape wasn’t a blurry dark room, but the idea itself was great. As far as the Pokemon Trainer scene, I feel like you could have done so much more with it, honestly. I get it fits with the theme of the season, but I feel like this was a missed opportunity. You could have easily “turned” into a Pokemon Trainer and left more time for other, fun footage.
CC, understood you were sick (so your instructions were a bit different than the other 16) but I’m not sure why we have a normal sitting video and then one of you walking in the pop version. Whereas the strippers in Joseon’s were visual stimulation, and was a key part of their story that helped them transition into the pop phase - your 1 stand-alone video to tie in a “cupcake” theme, in my opinion, was less successful. So if we wanted to argue use of additional people not part of the game, I think Joseon has the upphand here. This is just opinion again, as a lot of this challenge is, but I think it may have been more successful had you smashed a cupcake in your own face, of multiple in your husbands. I love the idea, cupcake in face, like it’s great, but execution here is subpar.
Red, it’s come to my attention you weren’t feeling too well throughout the weekend of this challenge, but Carolina baked and could barely walk, excused but no excuses. I do not think your turns were as successful as they could have been, but your dancing is adorable. I think your submissions actually bring down the quality of your tribes story as a whole.
Chris, you provided more energy and time into submitting wrong materials than you did actually following instructions and really helping out your tribe in this. Immunity 1 is one of the longer challenges, and the videos you provided over the course of 4 days just didn’t cut it here. I purposely didn’t use your Pop turn submissions because the quality was absolutely awful. You did not help your tribe out here except for maybe holding a Klondike bar… But when the turns aren’t correct and additional footage is seemingly better, I have to raise an eyebrow and be like, Hmmm. You did not help your tribe in this.
JOSEON
Marcia, I wish your turns were in the same location, but I am aware that creative freedom could have been used here, in terms of using the street is the ‘gray boring basic’ turn, and the greenery and beauty of the backyard can suffice as the ‘fun pop turn.’ So arguing local on this one can work in your favor. Outfits are on par, and you look beautiful playing with silly string too!
Michael, your pop outfit is so so N’Sync circa 2002 and I love it. You started the intro off great, and helped this tribe creatively. Nice effort.
Demonica, your footage of the strippers and fairy dust really helped the transitional points in your tribes story. Without those, the selling of it would have been way more difficult. You went above and beyond. Your outfits for Pop, albeit glamours and beautiful - I feel like it’s your Sunday best and not as POP as it could have been. This was the chance to get cray.
Joshy, you were one of the backbones to creating the story for Joseon, good job. There is a head pop you do at the end of your Pop Turn footage and I’m just obsessed with it. You didn’t stand out too much in the footages like Demonica or Genki, but you didn’t bring this tribe down at all.
Genki, I think your footages were my favorite on the tribe. Something as simple as throwing on a stick outfit, and jumping around your college commons area worked wonders for you! You did it with a smile, poise, and idk I really just liked watching you. Good effort.
Beth, you probably did the bare minimum on the tribe, but your turn submissions were fierce. You did what was required so I can’t fault that.
Simon, not really sure how changing into like a white or light blue shirt is POP, but your was probably the most effortless to edit. Yu made my job easy. The falling scene was epic, so so so you, and so perfect. You had a lot of time, I think you could have provided something of you NOT in your room, especially the singing/rapping parts during the Pop phase. Somewhat of a missed opportunity from you.
Shannon, despite the blurry video quality (sorta reminds me of Jake from Yuan), at least you tribe to situated yourself somewhere! Like, we can tell you found a location and set it up like a shoot. I love your pop dress and the fact that you’re holding flowers. You also submitted extra ‘fun party’ footage, bubbles the puppy, etc. You were definitely a strength for you tribe in this challenge.
